Gracious Professionalism®

Ninjineers Represent “Gracious Professionalism®

Gracious Professionalism® is one of the most important aspects of the FIRST Robotics Competition and the Ninjineers Team 2383. This term was instituted by Dr. Woodie Flowers, FIRST National Advisor and Pappalardo Professor Emeritus of Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as a benchmark to inspire teamwork and gratitude between teams, even when they are in competitive environments. It encourages members to see past the competition and perform professional work in collaboration with others.

Ninjineers have demonstrated Gracious Professionalism during competitions by:

  • Helping young teams solve mechanical issues
  • Providing spare parts and supplies to others
  • Debugging and solving programs for other teams

Ninjineers also fully embrace “Coopertition®

Coopertition® is another central concept of FIRST that the Ninjineers exhibit. Coopertition involves working and learning together as teammates toward common goals. Every Ninjineer is equal in the problem-solving process, regardless of his/her experience or knowledge. Because the best ideas may come from unexpected sources, we strive to foster an open atmosphere of competition and cooperation.
