Sorry for my prolonged absence! I somehow managed to contract a resilient form of bronchitis, so I’ve been hacking away with medications and lots of tea over the past week. But I’m back (yay!), so I’ll be posting regularly again. Hope you didn’t miss me too much :P.
Anyway, I had a lot of catching up to do yesterday and discovered that we have almost our entire robot done except the chassis… in week 2… whaat??! We’ve never been this ahead before and it makes me feel really confident. Now we’re just waiting on the swerve wheels to come in!
The heat gun seems to be quite the lab hero- for everything except engineering of course :P. Yesterday it served as a pizza microwave for our mid-afternoon snack… creativity, I guess.
Our CAD team is hard at work creating customized plates to mount the swerve wheels, and they’ve delivered some really nice results. 🙂 We took our robot out to test is aim from different distances and at different angles- and the results are REALLY exciting. Showing incredible consistency, our chassis-less robot made nearly every single shot! I couldn’t be more pumped to see what it can do after we put the drive train on…
We’ve also decided to try creating some sort of mechanism to play defense while we wait on the wheels. It’s a bit of a rocky start, but it IS a start, and we learn from our mistakes. (Square tubes don’t fit too nicely in round ones, just fyi.) So we’ll likely take apart what we’ve created so far and rebuild it more strategically on Tuesday.
Finally, a well-deserved shout-out to the Business team! They’ve been working hard laying the groundwork for our first-ever business plan and we owe them a lot for doing the tedious (yet often unrecognized) background work. Our team has many goals that we tend to overlook in the public eye and I really have to thank all of the people quietly accomplishing a lot to help us achieve them. These hearts are for you, Asad, Philippa, and co. 🙂 <3 <3 <3
Enjoy the rest of the weekend! I’ll see you on Tuesday 😀
